Twitter is increasing the price of Twitter Blue from $2.99 to $4.99 per month
Posted on: Jul 29, 2022

The monthly cost of Twitter Blue, its subscription service, will rise from $2.99 to $4.99. Existing subscribers will start paying extra in October. The increased rate is now required of new users.

In addition to the United States, the price increase also applies to Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. The new prices are 6.99 AUD (formerly 4.49 AUD), 6.49 CAD (previously 3.49 CAD), and 6.49 NZD, respectively (previously 4.49 NZD).

A few of the features available to subscribers include the ability to “undo send,” which allows you to edit a tweet within a specific time frame, customized icons and a navigation bar, the option to switch your profile picture to an NFT, ad-free articles within the Twitter Blue Publisher network, and access to the most popular articles shared by your network.

Over the past few days, Twitter sent emails to subscribers alerting them to the price adjustment.

The email stated, “This move aids us in continuing to build some of the services you’ve been requesting, enhance the current ones you already love, and sustain our objective of supporting journalism.” Many users attacked Twitter’s decision, claiming that the existing collection of capabilities is insufficient to warrant the cost; perhaps an edit button might persuade them otherwise.

“When the service first launched, we strongly believed that the subscription charge should be kept as low as possible while we experimented, learnt, and gained feedback.
A firm representative said in a statement that “we have subsequently refined the concept for this product, undertaken extensive research, introduced new upgrades with more in development, and as a result we are revising price.

Following an expansion to the United States and New Zealand in November of last year, the business initially introduced Twitter Blue in Canada and Australia in June. Twitter hasn’t provided any information regarding the number of users who have paid for this service, and it doesn’t specifically list subscription revenue in its quarterly reports. According to a report from analytics company SensorTower, Twitter Blue is now losing ground to Snapchat+, which debuted on June 29, 2022.
